“Social Media is a necessary evil.” Maybe you’ve heard this. Maybe you’ve said it yourself. Social Media doesn’t have the be the enemy. You can achieve a sustainable social media presence without burning out.
We’ve all been there. Trying to think of content to post in addition to creating your story world can feel daunting and can lead to burnout. Well, no more. These trainings will equip you with tools to plan an entire year’s worth of content in just one week. These trainings focus more on you, the author, than your followers, because people will follow you if you’re “doing you.”
The best time to post is when you feel good about it.
Your Reader Can Sus Fake News
Why do you follow a specific account? What attracts you to them? Is it the words that they say? Is it the aesthetic that they show? It's likely a combination of both. And your audience begins to recognize your voice. When you throw out content that feels forced, your audience knows that.
Now, I'm not saying that all of your posts need to be gold; that's just not sustainable, but you should feel good about everything you post. A good fallback post is always something that engages your audience. A “This or That,” a vulnerable truth, an “Ask Me Anything.”
Engage when You're Feeling Lost
If you're posting just to get something out there today, it's better to sit and wait and spend that time with true engagement. That still helps with sustainable branding. Your audience wants to hear from you, so spend some time speaking with them.
Engaging with your audience also leads to inspiration. Maybe you were feeling lost about ideas to share, but spending time reading through and interacting with posts of others that you follow, inspire, or something new, and you. I'm not saying to copy and paste somebody else's post. But, as authors, others inspire us. Use that.
Share in Excitement
It's like putting on a new outfit. It makes you feel good, and that joy is contagious. Your audience can see the work that you've put into something and will share in the excitement of it with you. In the same way, they can suss out poor content, and they recognize good content. These posts often get more engagement. It's worth the time to make something that matters to you. It's better to post less and consistently put out good content than to post every day with mediocre content.
Build Your Brand
But you may be asking, “How do I even create good content?” In which I say, that’s a great question to be asking, and one I’m ready to answer.
Coming October 1, the Solar Society (Substack paid subscribers) will have access to monthly workshops, a subscriber chat, and a discount on design services. October’s workshop is Typography: How to Choose Fonts to Build Your Brand. But if you don’t want to wait, digital courses are also coming to the website on October 1. These are self-paced and more detailed than the Substack workshops will be.
So what’s in it for you right now? Join the Solar Society before September 30, and lock in the founder price of $5 (half off!) But that’s not all. I’m giving away one branding audit to everyone who joins the Solar Society before October 1. Each month of membership is another entry into this giveaway.
